Heat pumps

A heat pump system has two uses. One, it removes heat from the room to cool down an area. Two, it can pull heat from the air outside to warm up a room inside. With a small amount of energy, a heat pump system can transfer heat from one place to another and can be used for either heating for the winter or cooling in the summer. A heat pump system is similar to a central air conditioning but is able to blow hot air into the home instead of outside the home. This allows the system to function as a heater in the winter and an air conditioner in the summer. These are said to be more efficient, though they struggle when the weather gets particularly cold.

Replacement

You may ask yourself whether to repair or replace your heating unit.  Depending on how old the units are, it could go either way. Some issues are small and only need repairs. But for those that may have bigger issues, it might cost more to repair than to replace and install it professionally. Our expert technicians will provide you with all the information that you need. We are familiar with many brands, new and old.

Boilers

Homes all over the United States are most often warmed with heat from a furnace or a boiler. Proper maintenance is the key to giving your furnace or boiler long life. Though furnaces and boilers are very different, they can be maintained the same way. A furnace heats air and distributes it through ducts along the house, allowing the air to be blown through the vents. Boilers, on the other hand, heats water providing either hot water or steam for heating. Steam is distributed through pipes to steam radiators, and hot water can be distributed through a baseboard radiator or radiant floor system, or is heated through a coil.

Zone Control

There will be rooms that are always warmer or colder than others in your home. There are many reasons that this can happen. Some can be that heat rises so rooms on the second floor are hotter and rooms in the basements are colder, and rooms that receive too much sunlight are difficult to cool down and rooms that are in the shade are often difficult to heat up. However, there’s a way to even out the temperature: through system zoning.

Zoning involves multiple thermostats in different rooms or “zones” that are wired to a control panel, which opens and closes dampers within the duct work of your heating system. The dampers close to prevent heat from continuing to empty, unused rooms and opens to bring heat into those rooms. Not only is this helpful with inconsistent temperatures, it’s also great for rooms that desire different temperatures.
